Since then, the Ford Explorer has come a long way, and the SUV is now in its fifth generation of production. 2016 Ford Explorer 3rd Row Seat

The 2016 Explorer offers three rows and spacious seating for up to seven occupants. The second row features a 60/40 split-fold-flat bench, and drivers can opt for the available bucket seats with a console. The third row features a 50/50 split-folding seat that offers generous passenger space for a third row bench—33.3 inches of legroom to be specific.

The 2016 Explorer also offers an available class-exclusive PowerFold third-row seat. At the touch of a button, the third-row seat folds flat to make a level load floor, and more room for additional cargo. The Explorer’s cargo space offers 21 cu. ft. behind the third row, and 43.9 cu. ft. when the third-row is folded. In the seat’s upright position, it comfortably seats two passengers. This class-exclusive feature is standard on the Limited, Sport, and Platinum trims.

2017 Ford Explorer 3rd Row Seat

The 2017 Explorer offers the same three-row seating as the 2016 model. The second row still features a 60/40 split-fold flat bench, and the third row still features the a 50/50 split folding seat. The same amount of legroom is offered, as well. With both the second and third row seats folded, the Explorer offers 81.7 cu. ft. of total cargo volume.

The PowerFold third-row seat is also available on the 2017 model, and comes standard on the Limited, Sport, and Platinum trims, as well.
