How to Pair Phones with Ford SYNC?
Every car making company now has its own version of hands-free technologies that allow drivers to use their mobile devices in the car. Each make’s version then has its own methods of using that mobile device including how a device is connected to the car’s system. The 2016 Ford models use Ford SYNC as their media system for driving convenience. To help you pair your phone with Ford SYNC, we’re going to take you through the connection process step by step.
Steps to Connect Your Mobile Device
Although you can use your mobile device through a USB port that is standard in most newer vehicles, the more convenient way to connect your mobile device is through Bluetooth technology. Below are 7 easy steps to start using your mobile device hands-free.
Step 1. Make sure your phone is compatible with Ford’s SYNC System.
Step 2. Enable Bluetooth on your mobile device to allow SYNC to detect your phone.
Step 3. On the SYNC screen press the Phone button to display the phone menu. Press OK, an Add a Device option will pop up. Press OK again.
Step 4. SYNC will prompt “Press OK to begin pairing device,” Press OK.
Step 5. SYNC will prompt “Search for SYNC on your device and enter the PIN provided by SYNC,” Press OK. The 6-digit PIN will appear on the SYNC screen for 3 minutes.
Step 6. On your phone type in the PIN provided. A confirmation message will pop up stating the phone is connected.
Step 7. Exit message and Press OK to leave phone menu.
