2016 Ford Explorer
The new 2016 Ford Explorer will be met with much anticipation from Colorado drivers. While the refresh details are few, Ford didn’t really need to mess with a model that has been at the top of its segment for years. So after a bit of a refresh, what is the new 2016 Ford Explorer like?
What’s new on the 2016 Ford Explorer?
The new 2.3-liter EcoBoost turbocharged four-cylinder engine that is available with 280 horsepower is quite an addition. The EcoBoost V-6 engine on the Sport model really shines in the 2016 Explorer with 350-pound feet of torque; it requires premium fuel as well. The increase in horsepower and torque is something to be noted from the previous version of the Explorer.
Other nips and tucks include a new lift-gate, taillamps, fascia, and exhaust tips. The hood has been redesigned along with the headlamps, grill, fender and fog lamps which looks to resemble the 2015 Fusion or Taurus. EPA-estimated fuel mileage on the base Ford Explorer comes in at 17 City and 24 mpg on the highway. A comfortable highway cruise in the Explorer can be matched off-road with an available Terrain Management System.
The brand new 2016 Ford Explorer Platinum Edition is fitted with 20” machine-faced wheels with Dark Tarnish trim pockets. It is likely that the new 2016 Ford Explorer will remain a top seller for Ford and continue as the country’s top selling three-row SUV with new advancements.
A host of advanced features are available
The 2016 Explorer utilizes ultrasonic systems to help drivers park in a variety of situations. The new park assist uses the vehicle’s 12 ultrasonic sensors to scan available parking spots to assist the backing of the vehicle into the spot; it can even help you perpendicular park.
The available Ford SYNC technology will help you and your passengers stay connected no matter where you are. Two SYNC options are available on the 2016 Ford Explorer. SYNC with MyFord Touch comes with navigation, voice activated climate control and radio tuning, and a large color touchscreen display.
