New Ford smartwatch app features

It looks like smartwatches are here to stay.

If you’re lucky enough to own a smart watch and an electric or plug-in hybrid Ford vehicle, Ford’s new smartphone app might come in handy.

The app allows users to check their battery charge level right on their smartwatch, a huge plus for folks who have left their vehicle in a parking lot for an extended period of time. With that one simple function, drivers can plan trips accordingly per the amount of charge left in the vehicle.

In addition to battery charge, the app also gives drivers the ability to unlock their doors and get a driving score from their last trip with MyFord Mobile. A driving score is calculated after a trip and provides drivers with miles per gallon (or the equivalent), trip miles, as well as braking and driving efficiency. A green leaf graphic shows drivers just how efficient they actually are!

The app can notify drivers when their vehicle is fully charged at a filling station or when your time has overrun at a charge station.

The application was designed to fit a variety of watch faces and styles. Moto 360 smartwatch owners will have a little different experience than Apple Watch users. All of the smartphone apps are designed to compliment the MyFord Mobile platform that launched back in 2012 on Android and Apple devices.
