It’s just about Valentine’s Day 2016 here in Grand Junction CO (well, and everywhere else the holiday is celebrated!) and we want to give our friends and neighbors a round-up of some of the best local activities for this occasion. Whether you’re spending the whole weekend with a special someone or looking for an array of events to keep busy, this list should give you a good starting point for nailing down your plans:
Sweet Heart Run & Heatlh Expo @ Fruita Community Center
Looking to do something a little more active to balance out that big Valentine’s Day dinner? Sign up for the 5k or 10k which takes place at the mercifully reasonable hour of 10am on Saturday the 13th. There’s a Health Expo beforehand and you can head to the Copper Club Brewing Company afterward for live entertainment and a craft beer (you’ll have earned it!).
Down N Dirty Barrel Race @ Mesa County Fairgrounds
We’d call this good clean fun, but the name implies otherwise: the Down N Dirty Barrel Race at the fairgrounds is a unique way to spend the afternoon – AND it’s free admission for spectators! Can’t hurt to check it out if you’re look for something new to check out.
We’d LOVE it if you stopped in for a test drive next time you’re car shopping – Schedule Online Here
Want to keep the love alive? Rev up the passion in a new 2016 Ford Fusion!
Grand Junction Symphony Orchestra – Latshaw Conducts Tchaikovsky
Alright, so you’ve run a 5K and taken in some rodeo action. What’s next? The symphony, of course! Get thee and thine to the Avalon Theater on Main Street in Grand Junction on Saturday the 13th at 7:30 or Sunday the 14th at 3:00pm to hear beautiful music in one of Western Colorado’s largest performing arts halls, right here in town.
Valentine’s Day Hike to Kissing Couple Rock Formation in Monument Canyon
There’s a special rock formation in Monument Canyon you may or may not have heard about known as The Kissing Couple, and the Western Slope Adventurers Meetup group is going to be making a trek there for photo ops and general outdoorsy fun on Sunday the 14th. If you’d like to tag along, meet at 10am (maybe a little before) at the Monument Canyon trailhead off Broadway.
We here at Western Slope Auto hope you have a great weekend February 13-14 no matter what you end up doing, and we hope this list helped get your plans rolling. Please give us a call if you’d like to check out new or used vehicles or if your current ride needs any work or maintenance. Thanks for stopping by our blog!
